Quick answer
OpusClip has four plans: Free ($0, 60 credits a month, watermarked), Starter ($15 a month, monthly billing only, 150 credits), Pro ($29 a month, or $14.50 a month billed yearly at $174, 300 credits with a two-month rollover) and Business (custom). One credit is one minute of the video you import, not of the clips you keep, so a one-hour podcast costs 60 credits. That works out to about $0.10 per imported minute on Starter and about $0.05 on yearly Pro.

Worth evaluating when
- Podcasters and long-form creators estimating how many hours of video a plan covers each month
- Creators deciding between Starter (monthly only) and yearly Pro
- Anyone comparing OpusClip with Vizard, Submagic or Descript on price
Check before paying
- Credits are spent on the minutes you import, so trim the processing timeframe before you submit a long video
- Free-plan clips are watermarked and can only be exported for 3 days
- Starter is monthly only; the 50% saving applies to Pro on yearly billing
- Posting a clip to X costs 3 credits per clip, per X account
The plan table
Free: $0 a month with 60 credits, clips rendered up to 1080p, auto reframe and AI captions. Exports carry a watermark, there is no editor, and clips stay exportable for 3 days.
Starter: $15 a month, billed monthly only, with 150 credits a month. It removes the watermark and adds the Virality Score, animated captions in 20+ languages, auto-posting to YouTube Shorts, TikTok and Instagram Reels, the editor, one brand template, and filler and silence removal.
Pro: $29 a month billed monthly, or $14.50 a month billed yearly ($174 a year), with 300 credits a month that roll over for two months. It adds a two-seat team workspace, AI B-roll, export to Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve, 9:16, 1:1 and 16:9 aspect ratios, a social scheduler, on-demand credit top-ups, video dubbing and limited API access. Extra credit packs can be added to the plan.
Business: custom pricing with priority processing, custom credits and seats, API and integrations, SSO and a dedicated Slack channel.
What one credit buys
OpusClip's help center states that processing costs 1 credit per minute of the original video you import. Videos shorter than a minute round up to one credit; longer videos with partial minutes round down, so a 4.5-minute video costs 4 credits.
The cost does not depend on how many clips OpusClip finds. A 60-minute episode costs 60 credits whether you keep two clips or twenty. The processing-timeframe slider lets you send only the part of a long video you care about.
Cost per hour of video
Free covers about one hour of imported video a month. Starter covers 2.5 hours for $15, about $0.10 per minute or $6 per hour. Pro monthly covers 5 hours for $29, about the same per-minute price as Starter. Pro on yearly billing covers 5 hours for $14.50 a month, about $0.05 per minute or $2.90 per hour.
A weekly one-hour podcast imports roughly 4.3 hours, about 260 credits a month, which fits Pro's 300. Two weekly episodes need about 520 credits, so plan on Pro with an extra credit pack. If you upload a few short videos a month, Starter's 150 credits are enough.
Free plan vs paid: what you give up
The Free plan is enough to see whether OpusClip picks good moments from your footage. You cannot publish professionally from it: clips are watermarked, there is no editor to fix a cut or caption, and exports expire after three days.
Starter is the first plan that removes the watermark. Pro is the better value if you process more than about two and a half hours a month or want B-roll, multiple aspect ratios and the scheduler.
How the alternatives price the same job
Vizard also starts with a free plan of 60 credits a month, with 720p exports and 3-day storage; its paid Creator and Business plans remove the watermark. Submagic has no free plan; Starter is $19 a month or $12 a month yearly for 45 credits (about 15 videos of up to 2 minutes), aimed at captioning short clips rather than cutting long ones. Descript's free plan gives 60 media minutes a month, and Hobbyist starts at $24 a month or $16 a month yearly for 10 media hours, as a full editor rather than an automatic clipper.
OpusClip is built for turning long recordings into many short clips. If you mostly caption clips you have already cut, Submagic fits better; if you edit long-form by transcript, Descript does.
