How task tiers really work
Every paid plan includes a task allowance; extra tasks are prepaid in tiers. The larger the tier, the lower the per-task cost — 2K tasks costs about $0.0245/task, while 1M tasks drops to about $0.0022/task on Professional.
Zapier now applies the same task-based pricing to AI steps, code steps, and the SDK, so heavy AI usage is priced like any other task.
Annual billing (Save 33%) is shown by default on the pricing page and is the honest comparison point for most creators.
When n8n or Make is cheaper
n8n (self-hosted) removes per-task fees entirely — you pay for your server instead. It is the strongest choice for high-volume or internal automations.
Make charges by operations with an unlimited-ops paid tier, which suits teams whose task volume would put them in Zapier's 100K+ tier.
